The City of Arvin, California is sponsoring a Green Arts festival showcasing art made with recycled materials and local recycling and renewable energy businesses. There will be workshops to educate people how to create eco friendly art.

“Greener Solutions is a juried art exhibition running Jan. 8 to Feb. 16 in the Student Union Gallery. Artists from across Idaho submitted art that incorporated recycled or found objects like scrap wood, steel and glass to express their opinions on climate change and environmental issues.” Read more at Boise State’s student newspaper.

Green Art Sought In Providence, RI

Recycled artists in in the Providence area take note that there will be a juried exhibit for the 11th Annual Fidelity Investments “Green Works” Juried Art Exhibition at the Providence Art Club. Entries must be received by January 23. Entries must be made of renewable, repurposed, or recycled materials. The art will be on display from March 8 to March 27 at the Providence Art Club.

Artist Nick Sayers created the piece above called “To Live”, a shelter created from scrap real estate signs designed to create a statement about homelessness and sustainable building. Nick’s recycled art is on display at The Lightbox in Woking, Surrey until January 2009.
Clifton Suspension Bridge Made Out of Coke Cans

Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival - November 14-16, 2008

Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival will celebrate it’s 10th anniversary this year. Artists who create art with 75% or more recycled materials can show off their talents at the festival. The event also features music, a Trash Fashion and Costume Contest and kid’s recycled art activities lead by local artists. Kids can make their own masterpiece from recycled goods to take home with them.
According to the Santa Fe Reporter, “… a shockingly good time… the weekends biggest can’t miss event… a highlight of the fall season.” So if you are in the Santa Fe area, get some holiday shopping done early and support green art. Find out more at http://www.recyclesantafe.org.
