Each April Flower Brooch is a one of a kind pin constructed from multiple layers of recycled tin cans. The use of recycled materials becomes metaphorical foundation for the flower motif. Think "green" while wearing the hottest fashion statement flowers. They are the size of real flowers as you can see in the portraits photos, but they have eye catching impact. Everyone will want to know where you got your amazing pins.It happens every time I wear my April Flower Brooches. Each and every petal is cut by hand, the edges are smooth, then the flower petals are lifted and twisted to make the flower petals more rigid and dimensional in appearance. The April Flowers brooches are not constructed from aluminum soda cans which are soft and fade quickly. These are steel with the original printed advertising. An amazing transformation of the mundane into the extra-ordinary. I have been working with recycled tin cans for over 22 years. No one works with recycled tin cans the way I do. My work uses a broad range of skills and techniques that I have developed over these many years….each one a new discovery or invention with the best quality fabrication. This is a Steampunk/Goth style handmade pendant that has been created with with a vintage 2" diameter pocket watch casing as its enclosure. It also has a back. Inside of this case is a vintage pocket watch plate on which rests the main focal point - an old mini doll's arm that has been painted copper and black and has a dangling thick chain tassel coming out of the opening. As added embellishments, I have attached a vintage section of jewelry that has clear stones in it as well as an amber rhinestone and mini watch wheel. The old chain is 14" long from top of clasp to bottom of watch case. A longer chain can be exchanged for this one or a black cloth cord. There is not another one in this world like it and never will be unless someone comes across the exact ingredients, so consider yourself as having a one of a kind funky pendant! I visit Brasil regularly and adore the people and culture of Rio/Brasil and thought I could give back a little by buying some of his work and help out a struggling artist particularly because his work is eco-friendly using these recycled pop-tops-very creative stuff, indeed. These are super high-quality, eco-friendly, strong and durable (with a double reinforced fabric clasp for easy opening and closing) purses straight from the world famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro. These are a more affordable version that weigh only 4 oz., with dimensions of 6"x5" and a strap length of 20 inches extending from the top of the purse, they are awesome for every day use, hitting the beach (as modeled by the lovely Carioca, Fernanda) or for nightclubbing. They are truly an intense labor of love using 220 total pop tops per purse and take hours to assemble by hand as you can imagine.
